Sugar Quality Management

A range of raw sugar ‘brands’ are produced to suit the requirements of export customers. Some typical quality parameters that may vary for each export customer are polarisation, colour, moisture, starch and dextran. Queensland Sugar Limited manages a sugar quality scheme designed to encourage sugarcane millers to produce raw sugar within a set of predetermined quality ranges. All raw sugar is sampled upon receipt at the bulk sugar terminal for quality analysis. Queensland Sugar Limited records detailed information about the sugar’s quality as well as its location within the sugar shed. This allows the product to be matched to the customers requirements when it is due for export.
